Yamuna Katha


This is a film about the relationship between Yamuna and city of Delhi. It focuses on ecological, cultural, historic and economic implications of the river Yamuna in Delhi. A core group of people from different strata of the society that consists of river specialist, social scientist, historian, artists, teachers, farmers, fisher men and others under take various travels to the riverbanks so as to strike a dialogue to explore a common future for Yamuna.

Mahadeb Shi, a postgraduate in cinema from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune,with specialization in editing, 1985.Over two-and-a-half decades since then, he has been working as director, scriptwriter, and editor in both film and video media. He has directed several documentaries including ‘Meandering Melodies’, ‘Kather Baxo-The Wooden Box’, ‘Yamuna Katha- The story of River Yamuna’,‘Om Mani Padme Hum’and ‘A Journey Extraordinarymany of which were shown atdifferent international festivalsincluding‘Culture unplugged’an online prestigious documentary festival on human rights issues.
